Lydia Emily is a street artist and activist. As the daughter of a civil rights protester, activism runs in her blood. Her activism comes from her life-long desire to bring fire to the people whether the galleries will hold her or not. It comes from the faith in the notion of nonviolent political protest; that people are not just a bunch of terrified witnesses, and that with enough passion everyone can make a difference in the world. She makes art because she believes that being in the public eye comes with a profound social responsibility, a duty to stand up and speak out, whether that means blowing the whistle on our country’s treatment of political prisoners or casting a discerning eye at a gutless administration. Her art has the power to cross class, gender and borders.

Lydia has been a formal painter for 20 years but she has received no formal training.

Private collectors range from Bob Dole to Winston Churchill Family.

Her work has been featured nationally and worldwide with shows in Milan Italy, Berlin Germany, Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, and San Fransisco. Lydiaemily currently lives with her two children and private zoo of shelter animals.
